In 2012, some of the the most effective internet marketing returns were seen from companies that focused on content creation, social media, blogging, SEO, website and landing pages, email and mobile marketing.

This infographic details the prevailing trends for for effective online marketing, with some strong numbers to support each channel. It is interesting to note that 89% of marketers say that they are maintaining or increasing their budgets that focus on these trends. Perhaps this is because inbound marketing costs 61% LESS per lead than traditional, outbound marketing.

Social Media:

63% of companies using social media say social media has increased marketing effectiveness ? among other benefits.

  • In 2012, 44% of marketers acquired customers from Twitter
  • US Internet users spend 3X more minutes on blogs & social networks than on email.
  • The average budget spent on company blogs & social media has nearly tripled in three years.
  • Social media use in the U.S. has increased by 356% since 2006.
